P & ID and General Arrangement Design

During initial design of a turboexpander and its support skid, engineers determine specifications for all components in the system. Lube oil pumps, cooler, filters, seal gas heater and filter, pressure regulators, reservoir and piping, and more is detailed and modeled in 3D. The 3D model accomplishes several things including allowing the customer to check the fit of the turboexpander with the rest of the plant design at an early stage. Once finalized, the design goes to manufacturing and fabrication where experienced specialists hand-build the structure including placing the larger components such the cooler, reservoir, pumps, filters, and valves, and assembling conduit and junction boxes for the electrical system.
