An important aspect of turboexpander design is Gas Dynamics. L.A. Turbine employs fluid dynamics engineers specialized in the study of motion of compressible fluids. Through thermodynamic and fluid dynamic modeling they consider conditions such as mach number, choke flow, shock waves and densities to determine appropriate design specifications for Expander wheels, nozzles and compressor wheels. These design specifications are then utilized model the actual components within a 3D environment, where further analysis such as FEA can be done.
