L.A. Turbine Builds, Tests and Ships a Landmark Turboexpander
June 2009
L.A. Turbine has successfully completed testing of a 2-stage expander-compressor (HP & LP) machines for BOG (Boil-Off-Gas) liquefaction for LNG application. The testing was completed at L.A. Turbine’s Valencia, California facility and was performed per API 617 and PTC-10 guidelines. Immediately following the testing, each machine was disassembled, evaluated and found to be without flaw, thus confirming LA Turbine’s design and manufacturing expertise.

The 2 stage expander-compressor machine features 2 units that are mounted on a single skid with common lube oil and seal gas systems including a PLC control. The PLC Control System features an Ethernet link to the customer’s DCS.

L.A. Turbine was able to take advantage of its full machine shop and its complete packaging and testing facility to expedite this project. This project was completed in a record time of 32 weeks, unmatched by other suppliers and exceeding all the customer requirements.
